Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (攻殻機動隊 イノセンス)
Director: Mamoru Oshii
A sequel worthy of the same praise as its original, Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is understandably a tough nut to crack. Taking a close read of the film as a treatise on grief, and thus as utterly a sequel, identity built on the first movie’s themes of identity, the viewer can see through its puzzling veneer and experience a somber, beautiful, and surprisingly moving film.
